ALWAYS A STUDENT
It's been quite awhile since my last blog. I have a good excuse for that - well in my opinion anyway. I decided to change from SquareSpace to Hostinger for my website. What a huge learning curve! The so called 'zendesk' was bombarded with my calls for help. Not quite sure why it's called a 'zendesk' as I certainly wasn't feeling very 'zen' through the whole process. But I think I have sorted the important stuff out now.... hopefully. This first blog will be the big test.
The big downfall in changing my platform was losing all my previous blogs. I decided to cut and paste them into a word document just incase I needed them down the track. Funnily enough, my first blog written back in October last year was so applicable for now. Who would have thought that I would be going through another learning curve on the same matter. I guess it goes to show that no matter the area or what you have succeeded to learn, there is always something new to be discovered. And what an exhausting 'discovery journey' these last few weeks have been.
Well anyway, I decided to repost the original blog below. I hope you can find some enouragement through another one of my personal life lessons/challenges. :)
Enjoy :)

Entering the world of blogging, is a whole new experience for me. Sure, over the years I have wandered into some rather intriguing blog sites, but never seriously considered beginning one of my own.
My favourite site for quite awhile was by a woman named Rhoda. Her blog is called Southern Hospitality. It documents her life moving from married to single, to buying a house on her own and the renovation process. All rather inspiring.
It was only this week however, that I came across a YouTube segment by Ali Abdaal, who encouraged his viewers to seriously consider having their own website for the purpose of blogging. Not for the goal of earning a few dollars, but rather as an avenue to articulate your thoughts and expertise. It was a chance to connect with like-minded people across the globe. Kinda like finding your tribe. It was also a chance for you to get to know who you really are. It’s amazing what transpires when you have to articulate your thoughts.
So I decided to embark on this new adventure. I love writing after all. Ali’s description of the whole set up process seemed uncomplicated. Well maybe if you’re tech savvy that is!
It has been a 2 day process of choosing a platform, domain name, new email address, and learning to navigate the platform Square Space. If I sound knowledgeable at this point, let me assure you that it was ALL A NEW LEARNING EXPERIENCE.
But here’s a couple of interesting lessons I learned.
1. I've been revising my NLP study notes and I quote this from Monday night’s reading: “Confusion is a good thing-it shows we have learned something!” In other words, I can’t be confused about something that I am ignorant about. Rather confusion is good because it means I’m in the process of understanding something.
2. My reading today from Born To Win by Zig Ziglar. “…the overwhelming majority of people appear to make a decision to stop learning anything by the time they reach the age of twenty-one and/or graduate from college!” He goes on to note that individuals who keep growing in knowledge are the ones who succeed.
It felt good to have those 2 reminders, particular as they just happened to come up at the appropriate time (Thank you, Lord :). It was good for me to have those moments of confusion and even frustration.
It was good to know that new neurological pathways were being formed as I stretched myself in trying to understand the world of technology and blogging.
It was good to know that as I learned each new process, I increased my knowledge and hence scope for further opportunities.
We don’t realise how quickly we become locked into living the same ole same ole everyday. We can only break free if we are willing to try something new. Life becomes so much more interesting when we are willing to step out of the comfortable and familiar, and not say “I couldn’t do or learn that.”
I’ve been contemplating all the different interests that I could take the time to develop. This obviously means putting myself in a learner position which can be stretching or even embarrassing.
But, I remind myself that being an eager student will always equal growth.
